Social security is the largest federal program brought into act by President Roosevelt during 1930’s.Through various social welfare and insurance programs such as Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI), Unemployment benefits, State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) people in different needs are being served since the inception. Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) give monthly payments to retired seniors, to widowers whose wage earner has died, and to workers who are unemployed because of sickness or accident.
